New Mexico Motor Vehicle Department at White Sands Offers:
New Mexico State Identification Card (ID)
You will need the following documentation:
Under 18 Years of Age:
- Social Security Card
- Birth Certificate
- School Enrollment
Over 18 Years of Age:
- Social Security Card
- Birth Certificate
- Two Proofs of Residency (Example: Rental Agreement,
Two Different Utility Bills, Bank Statement, Etc.)
Permit (Learners Between 15-18 Years of Age)
You will need the following documentation:
- Social Security Card
- Birth Certificate
- School Enrollment
- Enrollment Into Drivers Education
- Written Test Consisting of 25 Questions
Provisional NM Drivers License (DL)
You will need the following documentation:
- Social Security Card
- Birth Certificate
- School Enrollment or Two Proofs of Residency
- Completion of Driver Education or 50 Hours of Driving with Supervised Driving Log
- Driving Test at Main MVD Offices in Las Cruces or Alamogordo
Issuance of new NM Drivers License (18 Years or Older)
You will need the following documentation:
- Provisional License
- Pass and Complete None For The Road (DUI Class)
Issuance of NM Drivers License for Out Of State Drivers License
You will need the following documentation:
- Out Of State Drivers License
- Social Security Card
- Birth Certificate or Passport
- Two Proofs of Residency
NM Commercial Drivers Licenses
All CDL's are processed through state offices only
* Anyone Under 25 Years of Age Must Pass and Complete*
None For The Road Class
If your drivers license expires you have 90 days to renew your license, if you do not renew within 90 days you must pass and complete written driving test, and if under 25 years of age you must pass and complete None For The Road (DUI Class)
Kiosk is provided for written test inside New Mexico MVD at White Sands Missile Range

New Title and Registration
You will need the following documentation:
- Vehicle Title
- Bill of Sale
- Drivers License (Out of state DL must have two proofs of residency)
- Vehicle Insurance
Out of State Title to New Mexico Title
You will need the following documentation:
- Vin Inspection
- Vehicle Title
- Bill of Sale
- Vehicle Insurance
- Drivers License (Out of State DL must have two proofs of residency)
Renewal of Registration
You will need the following documentation:
- Current Insurance
- Current Drivers License
Handicap Placards
You will need the following documentation:
- Medical Records Signed by Doctor
- Current New Mexico Drivers License
*No Issuance of Out of Sate Handicap Placards*
*Any titles from out of the country must pass through customs*
before issuance of New Mexico Title
All VIN Inspections must be done by state certified VIN Inspector and must have Affidavit of VIN to title and register vehicle from out of state to New Mexico title and registration.
License Plate will be issued with any new New Mexico registration.
