WSMR Week - Organizational Day

Calling all organizations on White Sands Missile Range! It's time to get out of the office and come to Volunteer Park and enjoy some great food, drinks, music, and games! There will be individual contests being held where you could win cool prizes! There are also activities for both adults and kids! Something for everyone!
MWR Closures:
The following MWR facilities will be closed on June 16 to support Org Day:
- The Frontier Club
- Auto Skills Center
- Post Library
- Outdoor Recreation/Community Center/LTS/MVD
- Arts and Crafts
- Bell Gym- Main Gym (24 HR Annex Buildings will remain open)
Heat Safety:
It will be HOT! Recommended items to bring with you to help prevent sun/heat related injuries include:
- Sunscreen
- Wearing light colored and breathable clothing as well as a hat
- Drink plenty of water!
- Bring a canopy/portable shade. Try to reduce exposure to direct sunlight. Stay in the shade as much as possible.
- Pre-hydrate
Important information for you to know in regard to setting up at Desert Emerald Park - If you are planning on setting up an area at Desert Emerald Park, you may do so beginning at 7am on Thursday, June 16. No one will be authorized to set up before then as the MWR team will be setting up the main area the day before for the concert and food and beverage sales.
- For safety of others, you are not permitted to drive your vehicles into the park for loading/unloading.
- Bring your own canopy and lawn chairs! Ensure canopies are staked down.
- You may bring your own ice chest (please read attached authorization to consume alcohol memo). No glass items will be permitted. MWR will not have ice available on site so please plan accordingly.
- Propane and Charcoal Grills are allowed, however propane grills are HIGHLY encouraged to use for this event. If you use a charcoal grill the following rules must be followed:

Ø Grill must be attended at all times and placed on a flat surface
Ø Grill must be placed 15 feet away from any building or structure (brush/trees) that can possibly create a fire hazard
Ø Obtain a water fire extinguisher from the WSMR Fire Department table at Org Day
Ø Do NOT throw coals away in a WSMR trash receptacle or dumpster. You MUST provide your own metal receptacle for coal disposal
Ø Ensure coals are quenched with water and completely cooled off before disposal
- Please make sure you throw away all trash at your chosen area and be sure your area is cleaned up before your group leaves the park.
- All items brought into the park must be taken out when the event concludes.
